James V. Caltagirone P.A. is a boutique law firm located in South Tampa. The focus of our practice is on personal injury law, criminal defense, and small business law. Our firm has over 40 years of combined experience and has successfully handled thousands of cases.

Jim Caltagirone
Founder
Jim is the founder of James V. Caltagirone, P.A. and he focuses his practice in the areas of personal injury and criminal defense. ​He is a lifelong member ​of the Tampa community and has over forty years of legal experience.

Mr. Caltagirone began his legal career at the State Attorney's Office as an Assistant State Attorney where he gained extensive felony trial experience. After his work with the State, he decided to open his own law firm and focus on criminal law. After 20 years of practicing criminal law, Mr. Caltagirone expanded his practice to include the area of personal injury law, where he has handled hundreds of cases covering issues ranging from slip-and-fall to wrongful death.​​

Mr. Caltagirone received his Bachelor's degree from Belmont Abbey College in 1963. While at Belmont Abbey, he was selected to appear in the 1962-1963 Edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He entered the United States Air Force in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of Captain. He received his Juris Doctor from Stetson University in 1971.

Mr. Caltagirone is licensed to practice law in Florida and has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1971. In addition, he is admitted to the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.​

Associate
Laina Caltagirone joined the firm in 2012. Her practice focuses on personal injury law as well as legal services for start up's and web-based businesses. She has a passion for assisting entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground and empowering them in their business and legal ventures.

Ms. Caltagirone is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was awarded the Distinguished Scholar Award to Tulane and graduated with a Bachelor in Science degree in marketing from the A.B. Freeman School of Business in 2007.
In 2011, Ms. Caltagirone received her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law where she was awarded the Dean's Merit Scholarship. University of Miami School of Law is ranked in the top tier of all law schools in the country.
Ms. Caltagirone is licensed to practice in Florida and was admitted to practice law by the Florida Bar in the fall of 2011 and holds memberships in the American Bar Association, Dade County Bar Association, and Young Lawyers Division of the Dade County Bar.
